Franklin, TN

I went to a Control Logix Fundamentals training in Franklin, Tennessee from February 9 - 13. I had a great time! I really enjoyed the course, I think RSLogix 5000 is really neat. Being a fundamentals course the class was not very in depth, but I saw a tremendous amount of potential for the newer software (and hardware).
I thought it was particularly interesting that as I listened to the instructor explain many different aspects of Control Logix I related what was discussed to my experiences with C++ and other object oriented programming. For someone who never wanted to be a programmer I sure have a strange way of looking at life.
I thought Franklin, TN was a really great city. Located just far enough outside of Nashville to not have the despicable traffic, Franklin, TN has all the amenities a city should offer. They have a large mall, a Best Buy (of course), and Dunkin Donuts. Those three things are not the extent of characteristics of a good city, but they are an excellent start. (My amazement at Franklin could also be due to my extended stay in the depressed "metropolis" of Anniston, Alabama.)
The hotel I stayed in while in Franklin was the Hyatt Place on Baker's Bridge. What an excellent location. I had a Mercedes dealership to my right and an Infinity dealership in front of the hotel.
I happen to have my eye on the G37 coupe so I was able to check a few of them out. The hotel room was nice. They had a large flat panel LG television, a mini fridge, a sitting room, a king size bed and lots of mirrors in the bathroom area. I liked the couch in the room and thought it would be nice to get a couch similar to it for my living room.
Nashville wasn't bad either, for a larger city. I didn't care for the traffic, but it is MUCH better than Atlanta. I didn't like the looks of downtown Nashville, but the Opry Mills mall was a great place. I went to dinner at Dave & Busters and had a marvelous time. After eating a giant hamburger I played skeeball for most of the night. That is a very enjoyable game. I did shoot some hoops, but my skeeball skills produced many more tickets than my basketball skills did.
One of my favorite dinner experiences during the week was at the Taste of Russia. I really enjoyed sampling food from a culture I am not very familiar with.
If anyone ever has the desire to visit Nashville I would suggest staying in Franklin. Franklin is only 20 minutes outside of Nashville.
I happened to drive by the Nashville Temple a couple of times the night I got lost looking for a Walmart.

Weekends

I used to live for the weekends. Now they seem to be just like any other mundane time of the week. This is mostly due to my work schedule, but a lot of it has to do with me being lazy as well. Then there are the hours of meetings on Sundays. The meetings on Sundays would be fine except for the fact that I actually have to participate. I would much rather just take up space if I have to be there.
I need a hobby and the time to spend on that hobby.

Day Today, Day Yesterday

Yes, I enjoy a nice hearty bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Topped with semi-sweet chocolate chips, there is not much that can beat wonderful oatmeal. I don't know if the title image actually has chocolate chips in it - probably not. And I certainly don't put cinnamon sticks in my bowl, but hey it makes a nice title image.
